"Eagle Cornice Works"

This is a new semi-permanent exhibit on the museum grounds about the cornice /sheet metal industry.  Cowtown has done research on this topic, and no other museum in the United  States has a cornice works exhibit.

A Cornice Works Shop was essentially a sheet metal shop that specialized in making window cornices and other sheet metal decorative façades.  Popular between 1880 and 1910, cornice works produced a variety of metal façade pieces to create ornamental storefronts and building details.  These metal façades replaced earlier more expensive and  labor intensive decoration which were made of stone, wood, or cast iron.
